Merchant / Organiser: Pangea Partners (Pty) Ltd t/a Pangea Rally (“Pangea Rally”, “Pangea”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
Event: Pangea Rally motorcycle rally.
Jurisdiction: Republic of South Africa.
Effective date: 13 May 2026.

Summary
Pangea Rally is a premium, multi-day adventure motorcycle event through remote areas. You are responsible for your riding, your safety, your legal compliance, your travel arrangements, your insurance, and any damage or loss you cause.

We provide the event structure, route, accommodation, meals, logistics, luggage movement, and support services described in your selected package, but this remains an adventure rally with inherent risk, changing conditions, limited connectivity, and remote overnight stops.

These Terms & Conditions should be read together with:
-
the Pangea Rally Rider Code of Conduct; and

By booking, paying for, registering for, or participating in the Event, you agree to be bound by all of the above documents.

1) Scope and Acceptance
These Terms & Conditions apply to all participants, riders, pillions, support participants, and guests attending the Event, unless otherwise agreed by Pangea Rally in writing.
Participation is voluntary. By taking part, you acknowledge that motorcycle riding, off-road riding, remote travel, and adventure events involve inherent risks, including injury, death, property damage, delay, inconvenience, and loss.
2) Eligibility and Rider Requirements
To participate as a rider, you must:
-
be at least 18 years old;
-
hold a valid motorcycle driving licence suitable for the motorcycle you will ride;
-
have valid travel insurance, including medical cover suitable for adventure motorcycling and remote travel;
-
be medically fit to participate;
-
be able to safely operate a motorcycle in mixed road, gravel, and off-road conditions; and
-
comply with these Terms & Conditions, the Rider Code of Conduct, event briefings, and marshal instructions.
Pangea Rally may refuse participation where a rider does not meet these requirements or where participation would create an unreasonable safety risk.
Riders bringing their own motorcycles are solely responsible for ensuring that their motorcycle is roadworthy, legally compliant, suitable for the Event, and properly maintained for the duration of the rally.
3) Booking, Payment, Refunds and Cancellations
Bookings, deposits, balances, refunds, deferrals, no-shows, early departures, substitutions, minimum numbers, force majeure cancellation treatment, foreign exchange charges, chargebacks, and payment-related issues are governed by the Pangea Rally Refund & Cancellation Policy.
The Refund & Cancellation Policy forms part of these Terms & Conditions. If there is any inconsistency between these Terms & Conditions and the Refund & Cancellation Policy on a payment, refund, cancellation, deferral, substitution, no-show, or chargeback issue, the Refund & Cancellation Policy will apply unless Pangea Rally confirms otherwise in writing.
Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the Event. Pangea Rally is not responsible for cancelled flights, delayed flights, missed connections, visa issues, travel disruption, or other third-party travel costs.
4) Mandatory Safety Equipment
Helmet use is a legal requirement for motorcycle riders and passengers on South African public roads.
In addition, Pangea Rally standards require all riders to wear the following while riding:
-
suitable riding boots;
-
gloves; and
-
eye protection.
Pangea Rally strongly recommends that riders also wear:
-
body armour;
-
suitable off-road riding gear;
-
protective riding pants and jacket; and
-
weather-appropriate riding layers.
No helmet, no ride. Pangea Rally may prevent any participant from riding if they do not meet the required safety standard.
5) Road Rules, Riding Conduct and Route Discipline
Participants must comply with all South African road laws at all times. Traffic fines, penalties, impoundment costs, enforcement action, and related consequences are the sole responsibility of the rider.
Riders must remain on the designated route unless instructed otherwise by a marshal, event organiser, route official, or where immediate safety requires a deviation. The route may be supplied by GPX file, route card, briefing, marshal instruction, or other official event communication.
Each stage may include time limits, checkpoints, or cut-off times. For safety reasons, marshals may instruct riders to increase pace, stop, take an escape route, accept assistance, or use an alternative route to avoid arriving after dark or entering unsafe conditions.
The Rider Code of Conduct contains additional route discipline, check-in, sportsmanship, environmental, and behaviour standards. Breach of the Rider Code of Conduct may result in removal from a stage or from the Event without refund.
6) Navigation
Participants must be able to self-navigate using GPX files on their own device or on a pre-arranged rental navigation device.
It is the rider’s responsibility to:
-
arrive with a suitable navigation setup;
-
understand how to use their device;
-
keep devices charged during the day; and
-
follow the correct route.
7) Motorcycle Rental
Where a package includes a rental motorcycle, Pangea Rally may facilitate the rental with a third party rental partner and may pay the rental provider on your behalf as part of your selected package. The rental terms, insurance terms, damage terms, security deposit requirements, and excess amounts apply directly to you.
You acknowledge that:
-
a valid credit card may be required for a security deposit or insurance excess hold;
-
the insurance excess amount is specific to each motorcycle and is indicated in your package or rental documentation;
-
any damage to the rental motorcycle is your responsibility;
-
Pangea Rally will not be responsible for settling, negotiating, arbitrating, or resolving disputes between you and the rental provider.
8) Rental Bike Breakdowns, Damage and Replacement Motorcycles
If a rental motorcycle suffers a mechanical failure that is not caused by rider error, negligence, misuse, crash damage, or failure to follow instructions, Pangea Rally will work with the rental provider and support team to get you onto a spare or replacement motorcycle as soon as reasonably possible.
If you damage the motorcycle and want or need a replacement motorcycle, the replacement will be treated as a new rental and additional rental charges, excess charges, deposits, or other costs may apply.
Where practical, the event mechanic may attempt to repair a damaged motorcycle, but Pangea Rally does not guarantee that a damaged motorcycle can be repaired immediately, safely, or at all during the Event.
9) Weather, Route Changes and Operational Changes
Pangea Rally may change routes, timings, checkpoints, venues, daily plans, accommodation arrangements, transport arrangements, or support plans where reasonably necessary for safety, weather, road conditions, fire risk, flooding, permits, venue issues, operational requirements, or other circumstances.
Bad weather does not automatically cancel a riding day. Where conditions require it, Pangea Rally may reroute riders to improve safety. Participants may still be required to reach the destination on their motorcycle by the route or alternative route provided.
Refund, credit, and deferral treatment for event changes, cancellation, postponement, and force majeure is governed by the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
10) Emergency, Medical and Evacuation Support
Because the Event moves through remote areas and overnight venues change, emergency response options, evacuation routes, response times, and medical facilities vary by location.
Pangea Rally will coordinate reasonable assistance where possible, but cannot guarantee the availability, timing, cost, or outcome of emergency services, medical care, evacuation, towing, recovery, or transport.
All costs relating to medical treatment, rescue, evacuation, ambulance transport, hospitalisation, repatriation, additional accommodation, replacement travel, or related services remain the participant’s responsibility unless expressly covered by an applicable insurance policy.
Travel and medical insurance suitable for adventure motorcycling and remote travel is mandatory.
11) Third-Party Damage and Claims
Participants are responsible for any damage, injury, loss, claim, fine, penalty, or expense they cause to third parties, including other participants, members of the public, landowners, venue operators, local communities, vehicles, animals, property, infrastructure, or the environment.
This includes liability arising from negligent riding, unlawful conduct, failure to follow instructions, riding outside the route, collisions, environmental damage, or damage caused at venues.
Pangea Rally is not responsible for third-party claims arising from a participant’s conduct. Participants must handle any such claims directly, including through their own insurer where applicable.
12) Personal Risk and Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Pangea Rally, its directors, employees, contractors, marshals, mechanics, medics, volunteers, partners, sponsors, venues, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for any injury, death, loss, damage, delay, inconvenience, cost, or expense arising from participation in the Event, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
This includes, without limitation, loss or damage arising from:
-
motorcycle riding;
-
off-road riding;
-
route conditions;
-
weather;
-
mechanical failure;
-
rider error;
-
third-party conduct;
-
limited connectivity;
-
medical or evacuation delays;
-
lost, stolen, or damaged property;
-
travel disruption; or
-
changes to routes, venues, schedules, or services.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude liability where such exclusion would be unlawful.
13) Indemnity and Waiver
Each participant must sign the Pangea Rally Indemnity & Liability Waiver at registration or before participating in riding activities.
Signing the waiver is a condition of participation. Failure or refusal to sign may result in exclusion from the Event without refund, subject to the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
The waiver does not replace these Terms & Conditions. It is an additional document confirming the participant’s acceptance of risk, responsibility, and indemnity obligations.
14) Event Authority and Removal from the Event
The organisers reserve the right to remove any participant from the Event at their sole discretion where behaviour is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or in breach of these standards.
Pangea Rally may also prevent a participant from starting or continuing a stage where, in its reasonable opinion, the participant:
-
is not fit to ride;
-
lacks required safety gear;
-
is intoxicated or impaired;
-
is riding dangerously;
-
has breached the Rider Code of Conduct;
-
has failed to follow marshal instructions;
-
has failed to check in or communicate as required;
-
is causing risk to themselves, others, property, the route, the environment, or the Event.
